Altenso is a leading international system integrator in the field of complex power projects. We offer comprehensive solutions designed for the integration of large-scale battery storage systems, hydrogen (power-to-gas) applications, as well as island and hybrid solutions for both off-grid and grid-connected energy supplies. Altenso employs nearly 100 employees from over 20 nations. The headquaters are situated on the SMA Campus in Niestetal, Germany.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of SMA Solar Technology AG we aim to drive the energy transition by delivering innovative projects around the world. Experience in multi MW-sized PV, hybrid and battery storage systems
Master degrees in Physics at Universities in Zaragoza and in Paderborn. European Master in Renewable Energy at Northumbria University and PhD in Engineering from Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel

Dr. Jens Birkholz
Responsible for Sales as well as Market & Business Development within SMA Altenso
15+ years of experience in the solar industry, thereof with SMA since 2011
Experience in go-to-market and sales strategy across all major solar applications (Grid-tied, Off-Grid and PV-Hybrid)
Master degree of physics from University of Hannover and PhD in physics from University of Göttingen

Responsible for operations, including SCM, project management and service within SMA Altenso
15+ years of experience in solar market (project management, project engineering, sales)
Experience on small to large scale PV, off-grid, hybrid and battery storage applications

Head of Systems Engineering
Johannes Weide
Responsible for Systems Engineering within SMA Altenso
5+ years of experience in R&D and product mana-gement for hardware and software for renewable energy including PV, batteries and fuel cells
5 years of experience as leader of engineering teams
5 years of experience as project engineer for BESS and off grid power systems
