Bank, Ghana (C&I) 2018
At three branches of one of the largest banks in Ghana roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems have been installed with a total capacity of 40 kWp. The banks are still connected to the national grid, however the energy produced by the solar systems is solely for self-consumption and is not fed back into the grid. During the night or on cloudy days, when not enough energy is produced by solar power, electricity comes from the national grid. By switching between grid-provided and solar power, the bank can cover 30% of its electricity needs with solar energy.
This project is part of the worldwide dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme coordinated by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) - the German Energy Agency - and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) within the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
